Workshop/Traning Details
- Inaugural Session: Welcome and context-setting addresses were delivered by TN PMA and UNIDO representatives, highlighting the importance of renewable energy and CST adoption in the pharmaceutical sector.
- Solar Thermal Technology Training: Participants received a comprehensive overview of different solar thermal technologies, their operating principles, temperature ranges, applications, and suitability for industrial process heat.
- CST Technology Demonstration: Practical technical details of XPC and other CST systems were presented, including installation requirements, steam generation, efficiency, operating conditions, and integration with existing boilers.
- Installation and Commissioning Session: Participants were trained on CST installation, commissioning, system integration, operational flexibility, safety considerations, and maintenance practices.
- Industry Case Studies: Real-world CST applications across pharmaceutical, food, dairy, textile, leather, paint, and other industries were presented, highlighting fuel savings, carbon reduction, and payback periods.
- Feasibility Analysis: Participants were trained on assessing the technical and economic feasibility of CST, including thermal demand, fuel consumption, solar pre-heating, direct solar steam generation, investment, subsidy, and payback calculations.
- ESG and Carbon Management Discussion: The training covered Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions, carbon pricing, ESG requirements, and emerging carbon-related compliance considerations for industries, particularly exporters.
- Interactive Q&A: Participants interacted with technology experts and project specialists to clarify technical, financial, installation, maintenance, structural, and operational issues related to CST adoption.
- Practical Examples and Demonstrations: Technical examples of large dish systems, steam generation, solar thermal cooling, rooftop/ground-mounted installations, and system maintenance were discussed.
- Participant Feedback: Feedback was collected from participants regarding the training content, arrangements, schedule, technical sessions, training manual, and demonstrations to identify areas for improving future training programmes.
- Stakeholder Interaction: Participants had opportunities to interact with CST technology providers, experts, UNIDO project representatives, and industry stakeholders to explore potential applications and future collaboration.
