Workshop/Traning Details

  • Inaugural Session: The workshop commenced with a welcome address by representatives from UNIDO and DICCI, followed by a keynote address from the MoMSME representative on the importance of energy efficiency and renewable energy adoption by MSMEs.
  • Technical Session on CST: Participants were introduced to various Concentrated Solar Thermal (CST) technologies for industrial process heat applications, particularly for temperature requirements ranging from 80°C to 350°C.
  • Case Studies: Global and national CST case studies were presented to demonstrate practical applications, energy savings, fossil-fuel reduction, and carbon-emission reduction achieved through CST adoption.
  • Financial and Policy Support: The available financial assistance, incentives, subsidies, and policy support under the UNIDO-GEF-MoMSME project were explained to participants, including support available for MSMEs, hospitals, and common steam users.
  • Networking and Stakeholder Interaction: A networking lunch provided an opportunity for MSME representatives, industry stakeholders, experts, and project representatives to exchange views and discuss potential CST applications.
  • Implementation Experience Sharing: Practical experiences from CST implementation were shared, covering challenges, lessons learned, best practices, and key considerations for successful project execution.
  • Interactive Q&A Session: Participants raised questions related to CST technology, technical feasibility, operational requirements, financial viability, and integration with existing industrial processes. Experts provided clarifications and guidance.
  • Field Visit to Muni Sewa Ashram: Participants visited the operational CST plant at Muni Sewa Ashram and observed the practical operation and application of CST systems.
  • Practical Demonstration: Mr. Deepak Gadhia, Sunrise CSP, explained the installed CST systems, their design and functionality, and their integration with the Ashram's energy requirements. Participants gained firsthand understanding of a working CST installation.
  • Lead and EOI Generation: The workshop generated interest among participating stakeholders and helped identify potential leads and Expressions of Interest (EOIs) for further exploration of CST adoption in the Vadodara region.
  • Closing and Summary: Mr. Debajit Das, UNIDO, summarized the key discussions and outcomes, highlighted the technical and financial support available under the project, and encouraged MSMEs to pursue CST solutions for decarbonization and energy efficiency.
